Empire Chess Training – Gantry View School Scholastic Chess Tournament – Sat October 4, 2025
General Information:
Game Format: Swiss System, All sections will play 4 games, Time control of G/25;d5 for all rated sections
Date: October 4th
Venue: Gantry View School (5-36 50th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101)
USCF Membership: Current USCF membership required for all sections, except Novice
Registration and Entry fee: $45 by September 28, 2025, 11:59 PM Eastern Time, $55 after September 28.
Check-in starts at 8:30 AM. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the event to check-in.
Equipment: Chess sets, chess clocks, and notation sheets provided
All participants under 18 must be chaperoned by an adult or guardian. If you want to drop off, please email empire.chess.tournament@gmail.com
To ensure a safe and focused environment, we ask that waiting children engage in quiet activities. Loud games and running in the hallways or waiting areas are prohibited.

NOVICE 1 (PreK-1) – Unrated (will not be USCF rated). No clock and notation (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. Medals for all other players with 2 points and up.
NOVICE 2 (Grades 2-5) – Unrated (will not be USCF rated). No clock and notation (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. Medals for all other players with 2 points and up.
ELEMENTARY (K-6) – USCF 400 and under (USCF Rated), G/25;d5 (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. Medals for all other players with 2 points and up.
BOOSTER (K-12) – USCF 800 and under (USCF Rated), G/25;d5 (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. Medals for all other players with 2 points and up.
ADVANCED (K-12) – USCF 1200 and under (USCF Rated), G/25;d5 (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. Medals for all other players with 2 points and up.
CHAMPIONSHIP (K-12) – USCF 1200+ (USCF Rated), G/25;d5 (4 rounds)
Awards/Prizes: Trophies for top 5. $150 for 1st Place, $70 for 2nd Place.
Game Schedule and Awarding
Round 1 – 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Round 2 – 10:15 -11:15 AM
Round 3 – 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Round 4 – 12:45 – 1:45 PM
Awards Ceremony – To be held immediately after the section concludes
USCF Membership
Active USCF membership is required to participate in the rated sections
