  1. Exceptions to Notation Requirements
    1. Players with special circumstances may be eligible to use an alternative means of score keeping. This accommodation requires prior approval from the Chief Tournament Director. Alaska Chess Federation strongly encourages players seeking a score-keeping accommodation to contact the Chief TD at least three weeks before the tournament. This allows time for the request, submission, and review of supporting documentation to Alaska Chess Federation, if needed.
    2. Late registrants seeking accommodations for the method of score keeping shall contact the Chief Tournament Director before the tournament or ask to see the Chief Tournament Director at Head Table upon arrival at the site. A player who raises this issue at the board without it having been reviewed by the Chief Tournament Director must not assume the requested accommodation will be granted for the current round.
    3. Players Kindergarten through Grade 2, per US Chess National Scholastic Chess Tournament Regulations, will not be required to keep score. If a K-2 player is paired against a Grade 3-5 player, a 5-minute time penalty will be assessed to the K-2 player to allow the Grade 3-5 player notation time.
