2026 Ohio Elementary, Middle and High School State Scholastic Championships

Qualifications: Any student enrolled in an Ohio school or home schooled in Ohio in grades K-12 is eligible to participate.

Elementary Sections: SATURDAY ONLY

Elementary Championship (K-5) 5 Rounds: G/45; d5

The winner qualifies for the Rockefeller and receives a $300 stipend.

Primary Championship (K-3) 5 Rounds: G/30; d5

The winner qualifies for the Ashley and receives a $300 stipend.

U1000 (K-5), U700 (K-5), U400 (3-5), U400 (K-2) 5 Rounds: G/30; d5

High School/Middle School Sections: SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

High School Championship (9-12) 6 Rounds. Rounds 1-4: G/60; d5. Rds. 5-6: G/90; d5

The winner qualifies for the Denker and receives a $300 stipend).

Middle School Championship (6-8) 6 Rounds. Rounds 1-4: G/60; d5. Rds. 5-6: G/90; d5

(Winner qualifies for the Barber and receives a $300 stipend).

U1400 (6-12), U1000 (9-12), U1000 (6-8), U600 (6-12). 6 Rounds: G/60; d5

Free USCF membership included for new or expired memberships only!!

Progress With Chess will provide all chess sets and clocks for all championship sections and 6-12 U1400.

Up to two half-point byes available (no last round); must request before round two pairings are posted.

USCF March Supplement ratings will determine section eligibility. Provisional or online ratings may be used for unrated players.

Free Ohio Blitz Championship Saturday 8:15 PM

to determine Ohio High School, Middle School and Elementary Blitz Champions!!

Individual trophies for the Winners. Under 1000 and Under 600 Sections as well!

Main Tournament Entry fee: $45 received by 3/4/26, $50 after. No onsite entries.

Online registration will close at 6 PM on Friday 3/06.

Doors open at 8:00 AM. No section changes after 9:00 AM. Announcements at 9:50 AM.

Round Times: 10 AM, 12 PM, 1:45 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:15 PM

Primary K-3 Championship, U1000 (K-5), U700 (K-5), U400 (3-5), U400 (K-2) Sections (SATURDAY)

Round Times: 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, 2:15 PM, 3:30 PM

Middle and High School Championship Sections

Saturday Round Times: 10 AM, 12:30 PM, 3 PM, 5:30 PM

Sunday Round Times: 9 AM, 12:30 PM

 U1400 (6-12), U1000 (9-12), U1000 (6-8), U600 Sections (6-12)

Saturday Round Times: 10 AM, 12:30 AM, 3 PM, 5:30 PM

Sunday Round Times: 9 AM, 11:30 AM

Awards:

Elementary Sections: Trophies for all players achieving a score of 3.5 points or higher.

Middle/High School Sections: Trophies for all players achieving a score of 4 points or higher.

Trophies for top 3 teams in each section (top 4 scores count for team).

All students will receive a participation medal!
