We’ve reached it in two out of the last three years\, and expect to do so again in 2026. Registration will close when it fills. \n\nSchedule & Format\n\nArrival: Suggested arrival time is 9:15 AM. \nRounds: 10:00 AM\, 12:00 PM\, 1:30 PM\, 3:00 PM\, and 4:30 PM. Awards ceremony to follow after the final round. \nFormat: 5 round Swiss\, G/25; d5. \n\nLocation\n\nVenue: Brookdale Community College\, Student Life Center near parking lots 6 and 7. Approximately one mile from Parkway exit 109A. \nBy Train: North Jersey Coast Line to Red Bank station\, approximately 4 miles away. \n\nSections\n\nSections: K–2\, 3–5\, and 6–9. \nPlayers wishing a challenge may select a higher section during registration; this cannot be changed on the day of the event. \n\nEquipment\n\nBoards & Sets: Only boards and sets are provided. \nClocks: Players should bring their own clocks. \n\nEntry Fees\n$45 by January 9.\n$50 between January 10 and February 10.\n$60 after February 10.\nPrizes\nIndividual Prizes: The top 15 players in each section will receive a trophy.\nTeam Prizes: The top 5 teams in each section will receive a trophy.\nMedals: Every player at the tournament will receive a commemorative medal.\nTeams\n\nA team consists of any number of students who attend the same elementary\, middle\, or high school. (Other organizations\, such as chess academies\, do not count for this purpose.) \nIn the K–2 section\, the sum of the three best scores on a team will be the team’s score. \nIn the 3–5 and 6–9 sections\, the sum of the four best scores on a team will be the team’s score. \n\nByes\nOne half-point bye may be requested for rounds 1–4. Players MUST play in the section exactly corresponding to their grade in November 2025. \nEquipment: Only boards and sets will be provided; players should bring their own clocks. \nPrizes: Trophies to top 10 players and top three school teams in each section. All players are guaranteed a trophy or medal. \nEquipment:  Only boards and sets are provided; players should bring their own clocks. \nRounds: 10 AM\, 11:45\, 1:45 PM\, 3:20\, and 5:00. Awards ceremony ASAP after the end of round 5. \nEntry Fee: Online: $45 by 10/20\, $50 by 11/10\, $70 onsite. \nByes: One half-point bye may be requested for rounds 1-4. (Sign up early to guarantee your spot!) \nTeams: For this event\, a team is considered any two or more players in the same section who attend the same school for their academic education. Students who attend the same extra-curricular chess academy (e.g. ICA\, CKQ) are not considered teammates for this event unless they also attend the same academic school. A team’s score for team prizes (top three in each section) is equal to the sum of the highest four scores achieved by players on the team.
