DESCRIPTION:https://alabamachess.jumbula.com/Spring2026/2026AlabamaStateScholasticChessChampionship \nAlaska Scholastic Chess Championships\nSaturday\, March 28th\, 2026\nThis event will be held at:\nSouth Anchorage High School\n13400 Elmore Road\, ANCHORAGE\, AK 99516 \nOFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES DOCUMENT\nEligibility: The tournament is a US Chess (USCF) rated event\, establishing the State Scholastic Champions of Alaska in the for each Grade Section. Open to students K-12 enrolled in Alaskan schools\, Alaska homeschool program\, or enrolled through an exchange program in an Alaskan school. For all sections\, participating players must have “AK” selected as their state of residence in their USCF player profile. \nMaximum 120 players for this event. \n\nLink for pre-payment: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2026-alaska-state-scholastic-k-12-chess-championship \nRefund Policy – Pre-payment is encouraged to expedite the check-in process. If you pre-pay for the event and are unable to attend\, entry fees are refundable within 1 week of the event . Refund requests made after March 20th will not be accepted. \n\nTime: 8:00am – 5:00pm\nTime Controls: G/30;d5 — 4-Round Swiss-style tournament\nRegistration is from 8:00 – 8:30\, but all players should arrive by 8:00 to complete any needed paperwork. Games will start as close to 9:00 as possible. Subsequent rounds will start as soon as possible.\n\nNote: USCF membership is REQUIRED for this tournament. To become a USCF member\, visit https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess. Support the ACF by using our affiliate code: A9162190 when registering with the USCF. \n1-year US Chess memberships are $24 for students who will be under 19 at expiration. These memberships include online access to Chess Life or Chess Life for Kids. An additional payment may be made to secure a printed copy of the relevant periodical ($6 for Chess Life for Kids and $12 for Chess Life). \nNote: ACF membership is REQUIRED for this tournament. This accommodation requires prior approval from the Chief Tournament Director. Alaska Chess Federation strongly encourages players seeking a score-keeping accommodation to contact the Chief TD at least three weeks before the tournament. This allows time for the request\, submission\, and review of supporting documentation to Alaska Chess Federation\, if needed.\nLate registrants seeking accommodations for the method of score keeping shall contact the Chief Tournament Director before the tournament or ask to see the Chief Tournament Director at Head Table upon arrival at the site. A player who raises this issue at the board without it having been reviewed by the Chief Tournament Director must not assume the requested accommodation will be granted for the current round.\nPlayers Kindergarten through Grade 2\, per US Chess National Scholastic Chess Tournament Regulations\, will not be required to keep score. If a K-2 player is paired against a Grade 3-5 player\, a 5-minute time penalty will be assessed to the K-2 player to allow the Grade 3-5 player notation time.
