Both online and onsite registrations will also close if we reach our maximum capacity of 80 participants. \nThe Tournament Director reserves the right to add players after this deadline if they believe it will improve the tournament experiences of the players who are already registered\, permitted said players paid the registration fee in full. \nMost levels will be broken into Quads; the tournament director reserves the right to change sections to Swiss to accommodate extra players or large rating discrepancies that would occur if players were in a quad. Players are split into groups of four (quads) by rating\, although divisions into sections of six (swiss format) are occasionally implemented circumstantially (to either accommodate numbers or better group players based on rating). In addition\, we offer a $60 cash prize for winners of each section and a $15 award for swiss section runners up. \nPlayers rated under 1000 play in G/30;d5 sections (30 minutes per person with a five second delay per turn)\, while players rated over 1000 play in G/45;d5 sections (45 minutes per person with a five second delay). Each competitor is guaranteed three rated games. For new players\, click HERE to learn how to get an official rating. \nThe tournament entry fee is $30 and online registration closes at 12pm the day of the tournament. In addition\, onsite registration is available on the day of the tournament from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. This is a two-day\, dual-rated tournament that is both FIDE and USCF rated. \nRegistration Fee and Information: The early bird registration fee is $100\, while regular registration is $120. Free entry is available to Grandmasters (GMs)\, International Masters (IMs)\, and players rated 2400+ FIDE. Eligible players should email chessdirector@icanj.net to receive a registration coupon. Registration closes at 10 am on the day of the tournament or when we reach our capacity of 60 players. \nTournament Format: The event follows a 4-round Swiss-System format\, with two rounds played each day. Time control is G110 with a 10-second delay. Pairings will be based on FIDE ratings. \nEligibility Requirements: Participants must have a published monthly rating of at least 1600 USCF or 1500 FIDE. All players must also hold a valid FIDE ID. U.S. players can request a USA-flagged FIDE ID at this link. Those seeking a FIDE ID with a non-USA federation must contact their respective chess federation. \nSchedule: Rounds will be held as follows — Saturday: 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM; Sunday: 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM. \nByes: Players may request up to two half-point byes during the tournament.
